Previously I would not have considered myself vein with regard to appearance. Put a camera in my face and it all changes. Take a video and all my harsh self judgements and body shaming quickly spew from my mouth. I criticize my weight gain manifested in a double chin, speed of speech, lazy eye, on and on my flesh and mind yell. Then I take those thoughts captive as I remember what God, in His Word, says about me. God says I am fearfully and wonderfully made, knitted together in my mother’s womb (Psalms 139:13-14), Lord, you know the number of hairs on my head,(Matt. 10:30), God created me in His image and called it very good, (Gen. 1:27-31), then I laugh and remember even more so that I was made on purpose for a purpose and with a purpose, (Jer. 29:11). Paul had a thorn in side and a call to preach the Gospel to the gentiles. In a similar fashion God has called me to love His people, all people, that means you who is reading this and your friend who would never read this, with hospitality and community. This is the way I have been called to preach the gospel and put the love of Jesus Christ on display. My purpose is you.
